Ford Motor Co. lost its bid Monday to halt 11 putative class actions over alleged diesel engine defects that were filed after the car giant settled a similar case in South Carolina in 2007.

Ford Motor Co. on Tuesday asked a federal court to pull the brakes on all putative class actions over alleged defects in the company's Power Stroke diesel engines, claiming that plaintiffs' attorneys have been forum shopping their class certification bids.
