Campbell Soup Co. agreed to change labeling procedures for its low-sodium tomato soups as part of a $1.05 million preliminary settlement Tuesday in New Jersey federal court with a class of consumers accusing the company of misleadingly labeling the products.

A putative consumer class action claiming that Campbell Soup Co. misleadingly labeled its low-sodium tomato soups in violation of New Jersey consumer protection laws is not preempted by federal law, a federal judge ruled Wednesday.
