A class of United Air Lines Inc. skycaps said Tuesday they had reached a $250,000 settlement to resolve claims that the airline's baggage fee policy cost them tips and skirted federal and Massachusetts state wage laws.

A class of United Air Lines Inc. skycaps suing over tips urged a Massachusetts federal judge not to toss their state law wage claims Thursday, saying that the claims were not preempted by the the federal Airline Deregulation Act.
