Litgo New Jersey Inc. asked the Third Circuit on Wednesday to reverse a New Jersey federal court's allocation of cleanup costs at a polluted military site, arguing that the lower court abused its discretion by assigning Litgo a majority of the costs while largely letting the U.S. government off the hook.

The U.S. government has agreed to withdraw objections to the proposed settlement of a suit over pollution cleanup at a former military manufacturing plant in New Jersey, in exchange for concessions from state regulators and the property's current owners, a federal judge said Tuesday.
