An Arkansas federal jury on Friday awarded a former Bayer Corp. sales representative nearly $900,000 after finding that the company fired him in retaliation for blowing the whistle on a customer's Medicaid scam, in violation of the False Claims Act.

An Arkansas federal judge Wednesday refused to dismiss a False Claims Act lawsuit accusing Bayer Corp. of firing a sales staffer for flagging a customer's Medicaid scam, saying the company hasn't disproven that it used a pretext to terminate the employee or that its culture discouraged whistleblowing.
