A Georgia federal judge ruled Tuesday he could not force two manufacturers to recall from retailers a generic version of Merial Ltd.'s Frontline Plus that the company claims infringes its patents covering the blockbuster flea and tick repellent for pets.

A Georgia federal judge on Tuesday found Cipla Ltd. and Velcera Inc. in violation of a court order barring Cipla from infringing Merial Ltd.'s patent covering Frontline Plus, the blockbuster flea and tick repellent for pets.
