Former Nevada Rep. James Bilbray and a former owner of the Minnie Moore Mine Superfund site in Idaho say they shouldn't be liable for a $7 million cleanup because their relationship with the historic silver mine and its contamination is tenuous at best.

Federal Resources Corp. shot back Wednesday at the U.S. government's suit seeking contribution for the nearly $7 million environmental cleanup of three Idaho mines, claiming the government and third party Chester Mining Co. are instead liable for the costs.
