    'Madden NFL' Programmer Not Owed More Royalties, Says EA

    Electronic Arts Inc. urged a California federal judge Friday to find that a programmer for the the original 1988 "Madden NFL" videogame isn't entitled to royalties from later versions of the multibillion-dollar franchise, saying his contract only covered versions designed for Apple II computers.

    A California federal judge on Tuesday refused to dismiss a suit against Electronic Arts Inc. brought by the original programmer of its "Madden NFL" video game series, who claims EA breached a contract by using his copyrighted code in later versions of the game.
