A Pennsylvania federal judge on Thursday awarded more than half a million dollars in legal fees to attorneys with Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP and Caputo & Mariotti PC for their work on behalf of a class of Progressive Specialty Insurance Co. customers who claimed they were cheated out of required discounts.

Car insurer Progressive has agreed to pay $2 million to a class of Pennsylvania customers who said they were cheated out of a premium discount for anti-theft devices, according to papers filed in federal court Monday.

A Pennsylvania federal court granted class certification Thursday to car owners who claim Progressive did not give them a state-mandated 10 percent discount on their insurance premiums for having passive anti-theft devices in their vehicles.
