A Connecticut federal judge tossed a suit brought by Jacoby & Meyers LLP challenging regulations related to restrictions on nonlawyers investing in law firms on Friday, just a week after the Second Circuit upheld a New York court's dismissal of a similar case.

Three lawsuits filed Wednesday challenging rules in New York, Connecticut and New Jersey barring nonattorneys from owning a stake in law firms have some experts wondering if the decades-old wall between legal practitioners and outside investment is finally ready to fall.
