Covidien Doesn't Infringe Surgical Seal Patent, Judge Says
A California federal judge ruled Monday that medical device company Covidien PLC is not infringing rival Applied Medical Resources Corp.'s patent covering technology for a gas-tight seal used with surgical instruments, but declined to declare the patent is invalid.

Applied Medical Hits Covidien With Seal Patent Suit
Applied Medical Resources Corp. said Monday that it had filed a lawsuit against Covidien PLC in California alleging infringement of a recently issued patent covering technology for a gas-tight seal used in surgical instruments, and arguing that Covidien has repeatedly infringed its patents.
