Entertainment Inc. another victory Thursday in its long-running fight for control of the rights to Superman, siding with the studio on the two remaining disputed portions of a controversial 2001 contract with the heirs of one of the superhero's co-creators.

A California federal judge on Wednesday dealt another blow to Superman co-creator Jerome Siegel's heirs, ruling that their October 2001 agreement with DC Comics is an enforceable contract and, therefore, that the rights to the superhero belong to the Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.-owned company.

The heirs of Superman co-creator Jerome Siegel on Monday pressed a California federal judge to deny a bid for judgment by Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.'s DC Comics in their long-running dispute over Superman copyrights, saying the Ninth Circuit's ruling recognizing an old settlement agreement doesn't mean it's valid.

Time Warner Inc.'s DC Comics on Thursday asked for summary judgment in a suit brought by the heirs of Superman co-creator Jerome Siegel, saying the Ninth Circuit had found that Siegel's estate representatives gave up the disputed Superman and Superboy copyrights as part of an earlier settlement.
