ATP Oil & Gas Corp. asked a Louisiana federal court Tuesday to block the U.S. from terminating a deepwater drilling lease that expires July 1, saying the government was required to grant extensions following drilling moratoriums related to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

ATP Oil & Gas Corp. hit the U.S. Department of the Interior with a suit Thursday seeking to end what it called the agency's unreasonable delays in permitting four deepwater drilling projects off the coast of Louisiana.
