The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday ordered DuPont Co. to halt sales of an herbicide used in recreational areas and commercial properties that has been linked to the destruction of spruce and pine trees.

DuPont Co. confirmed Thursday that it might pull its herbicide Imprelis from shelves in response to reports that it destroyed spruce and pine trees, as a Delaware federal judge consolidated five proposed class actions over the chemical.
