An Illinois federal judge on Tuesday rejected Comcast Cable Communications LLC's bid for a temporary restraining order blocking DirecTV Inc. from running allegedly false advertisements for its NFL Sunday Ticket service, finding Comcast had not shown the ads caused irreparable injury.

Comcast Cable Communications LLC hit rival DirecTV with a false advertising and unfair competition suit in Illinois federal court on Wednesday, accusing the satellite television company of incorrectly claiming that its NFL Sunday Ticket service was free of charge.
