A New York federal judge on Monday tossed three suits alleging federal agencies failed to conduct an environmental review of natural gas development of the Delaware River Basin before moving ahead with drafting new regulations opening the area up to hydraulic fracturing.

New York state's bid to force an environmental review of regulations that could allow hydraulic fracturing in the river basin that supplies drinking water to millions of state residents should be tossed because the commission responsible for the rules isn't a federal agency, the U.S. said Tuesday.
