DOT Defends Texas Highway Project Over Sierra Objections
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers joined state and federal transportation officials Wednesday in refuting claims by the Sierra Club that a 15-mile Houston tollway project violated environmental standards, saying they took proper steps to ensure construction won't cause a dam breach and flood parts of the city.

The Sierra Club on Monday accused the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Association and the Texas Transportation Commission of approving a road project despite knowing it could cause a dam breach and flood parts of Houston.
