Shell, Chevron Pay $5.6M To Settle Contamination Claims
Shell Oil Co. and Chevron Corp. have agreed to pay $4.5 million and $1.1 million, respectively, to settle claims by the Crescenta Valley Water District that their gasoline contaminated the utility's wells and nearby groundwater, according to court records.

Exxon To Pay $11.5M To End 2 Water Contamination Suits
A Rhode Island state judge approved Exxon Mobil Corp.'s $7 million settlement to resolve a class action by Pascoag, R.I., residents after a cancer-causing gasoline additive leached into the town's water supply, an attorney said Thursday, the same day Exxon agreed to pay $4.5 million to end a similar suit in California.
