A North Carolina federal judge denied a bid for a preliminary injunction Thursday from Hanesbrands Inc. that would have blocked Forever 21 Inc. from selling sports bras that allegedly infringe a Hanesbrands patent.

Hanesbrands Inc. sued Forever 21 Inc. in North Carolina federal court Wednesday, accusing the fashion retailer of making and selling more than two dozen types of sports bras that infringe a Hanesbrands patent.
