A Washington, D.C., federal judge on Friday tossed a $2 billion proposed class action accusing government contractors and insurance carriers, including Halliburton Corp. and Continental Casualty Co., of withholding health benefits from badly wounded workers, calling the lawsuit an end-run around required administrative review.

Halliburton Corp. and KBR Inc. on Friday asked a Washington federal judge to toss a $2 billion proposed class action accusing them of war profiteering through denied health insurance claims to employees working under government contracts, arguing the suit is blocked by the Defense Base Act.
