A New York federal judge on Tuesday granted final approval to a settlement worth up to $14.3 million for a class of Energy Plus Holdings LLC customers that had accused the power provider of luring them into contracts with false promises.

Energy Plus Holdings LLC and the plaintiffs in a putative class action accusing the company of using deceptive advertising to conceal noncompetitive electricity rates both urged a New York federal judge to approve an up to $11 million settlement, arguing the deal was fair despite objections from state regulators.
