A California federal judge on Monday dismissed most copyright infringement claims from a suit accusing MTV Networks and other broadcasters and entertainment companies of airing TV One LLC's exclusive coverage of the Essence Music Festival without permission.

Viacom Inc. units BET Networks and MTV Networks were hit with a copyright and trademark infringement suit in California on Friday by rival TV One LLC, which claims they acquired and BET broadcast exclusive coverage of the Essence Music Festival without permission.
