An Arkansas federal judge on Friday refused to order the U.S. Forest Service to halt hydraulic fracturing in the Ozark National Forest while an Ozark Society lawsuit against the agency is pending, ruling the conservation group failed to show the drilling activity would cause irreparable damage.

The Ozark Society filed a lawsuit Monday in Arkansas federal court, claiming the U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management have ignored the environmental effects of hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling in the Ozark National Forest.
