Covidien PLC won an Ohio federal court's ruling in a patent infringement suit by Johnson & Johnson unit Ethicon Endo-Surgery Inc. that found its ultrasonic dissection surgical tool does not infringe the disputed Ethicon patents, Covidien said Wednesday.

Johnson & Johnson unit Ethicon Endo-Surgery Inc. sued Covidien PLC in Ohio federal court on Wednesday, claiming the global health care product giant's soon-to-be-launched ultrasonic dissection surgical tool infringes one of its patents.
