Google Inc. on Monday escaped a patent infringement lawsuit by online safe-shopping service buySAFE Inc. claiming Google infringed its patented method for guaranteeing online transactions, after a Delaware federal judge ruled that the core concept of the method is abstract and therefore not patentable.

Online safe-shopping service buySAFE Inc. slammed Google Inc. with a patent infringement lawsuit Thursday in Delaware federal court, accusing the search giant of using proprietary buySAFE business information to launch a competing service that violates a patented method for guaranteeing online transactions.
