Tobacco Cos. Lose Challenge To RI City's Advertising Law
A Rhode Island federal judge on Monday dismissed a suit by nine tobacco companies, including R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and Philip Morris USA Inc., against Providence, R.I., ruling that the city's new ordinances limiting tobacco advertisements did not violate the First Amendment.

Tobacco Giants Challenge Local Smoking Ordinances
A group of nine tobacco companies led by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and Philip Morris USA Inc. sued the city of Providence, R.I., Friday alleging two new city ordinances placing limits on tobacco product advertisements and discounts conflict with federal law and violate the First Amendment.
