Sony Corp. of America couldn't escape claims that Shakira's 2010 hit "Loca" ripped off an earlier track, after a New York federal judge ruled Thursday that Mayimba Music Inc. "barely" had enough evidence to suggest it had originated with another songwriter years before.

A New York federal judge on Friday ordered a music licensing company and Sony Corp. of America back to the drawing board after the two failed to reach a settlement in mediation in a copyright spat over a song Sony released on Shakira's album "Sale el Sol."
