Netflix Inc. notched another victory in a patent dispute with Rovi Corp. on Wednesday, as a California federal judge invalidated five interactive channel guide patents for claiming only abstract ideas.

A California federal judge ruled Monday that Netflix Inc. "improperly filed" a motion seeking summary judgment that Rovi Corp.'s interactive channel guide patents fail the U.S. Supreme Court's Alice test and said that she will not consider it until the parties make claim construction arguments.
