A New York federal judge found Tuesday that a dissolved firm's pending hourly fee matters were not recoverable assets under state law, tossing a bid by Thelen LLP's bankruptcy trustee to recoup hourly fees from ex-partners who joined Seyfarth Shaw LLP.

Seyfarth Shaw LLP on Friday blasted a suit brought by Thelen LLP's bankruptcy trustee seeking to recoup fees from partners who joined Seyfarth, saying an adverse ruling would make attorneys of dissolving firms "toxic" to the legal marketplace.
