A Florida-chartered small business authority said Thursday that it would wind down its business because it was unable to pay a proposed $15 million settlement in a False Claims Act suit brought by the U.S. government over alleged misuse of NASA and Economic Development Authority contracts.

The U.S. government on Thursday slapped a Florida-chartered small business authority with a False Claims Act suit claiming it conspired with a local airport to improperly steer NASA grants to build a $5 million facility those grants would not have funded.
