A Louisiana federal judge on Thursday granted Signal International LLC's bid to delay trial in a discrimination suit brought by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on behalf of H-2B visa holders, citing a pending Fifth Circuit decision that could impact claims the shipbuilder faces under the Civil Rights Act.

Signal International LLC won't be entitled to discovery on the immigration status of the workers involved in the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's lawsuit accusing the company of mistreating 500 Indian employees, a Louisiana federal magistrate ruled last week.
