Colgate-Palmolive Co. defended a proposed $2 million deal that would end multidistrict litigation over allegedly misleading germ-killing soap claims and provide the proposed class injunctive relief, telling a New Hampshire federal judge on Monday the group would have difficulty providing a working damages model or overcoming issues of ascertainability otherwise.

Colgate-Palmolive Co. has agreed to pay $2 million to resolve multidistrict litigation claiming the company misled consumers into thinking its Softsoap Antibacterial liquid hand soap killed most common germs, according to documents filed in New Hampshire federal court Friday.
