A contractor for New Orleans Affordable Homeownership, a now-defunct, corruption-plagued city agency dedicated to repairing homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina, pled guilty in Louisiana federal court Tuesday to taking payment from the federally funded agency for work he didn't perform.

Louisiana federal prosecutors in a criminal case alleging a contractor stole grants aimed at supporting home remediation work after Hurricane Katrina said Wednesday that his claims that a former prosecutor slimed him in anonymous online comments are merely speculative and don't warrant the case's dismissal.
