An Alabama federal judge on Wednesday sentenced a former defense contractor to 15 months in prison for his involvement in a kickback scheme that manipulated $23 million worth of U.S. Army reconstruction contracts in Iraq.

A former defense contractor involved in a $23 million scheme to manipulate U.S. Army contracts in Iraq pled guilty in Alabama federal court Tuesday to conspiring to commit mail and wire fraud and filing a false tax return.
