A Texas federal judge has denied a bid from two NobelBiz Inc. rivals for a new trial in a patent infringement lawsuit and upped the customer service telecommunications provider's award to more than $2 million, based on the jury's finding that the infringement was willful.

Customer service telecommunications provider NobelBiz Inc. was awarded $1.47 million by a Texas federal jury Wednesday in a patent infringement suit against two rivals, holding they literally infringed or their web-based voice messaging systems were equivalent to patented technology regarding the processing of telephone calls.
