GFI Mortgage To Pay $3.6M To End Loan Race Bias Claims
GFI Mortgage Bankers Inc. will pay $3.6 million to settle allegations that it discriminated against qualified African-American and Hispanic borrowers by charging them higher interest rates and fees than their white counterparts, the U.S. Department of Justice said Tuesday.

Feds Settle Discriminatory Lending Suit Against GFI Mortgage
GFI Mortgage Bankers Inc. on Thursday settled an anti-discrimination lawsuit brought by the U.S. attorney in Manhattan accusing the mortgage lender of charging African-American and Hispanic borrowers thousands of dollars in extra fees that were unrelated to their credit risk.
