    Apple Inc. on Thursday denied the U.S. government's claims that the iPad maker had conspired with five publishers to hike e-book prices, saying its iBookstore had actually promoted competition and allowed publishers to decide how much to charge for their products.

    DOJ Sues Apple, Publishers For E-Book Price-Fixing

    The U.S. Department of Justice accused Apple Inc. and five publishers Wednesday of conspiring to hike the price for e-books by changing the sales model for the digital products, and three of the publishers immediately settled with the antitrust watchdog.
