An Illinois federal judge on Thursday axed Steadfast Insurance Co.'s suit asking the court to resolve a dispute among steelworkers over the insurer's settlement offer tied to an explosion at an ArcelorMittal SA steel plant, saying the underlying state court litigation should resolve the insurer's claims.

Steadfast Insurance Co. filed suit in Illinois federal court Wednesday claiming that a $2.8 million settlement offer had satisfied its coverage obligations in an underlying suit filed by steelworkers over a 2007 explosion at an ArcelorMittal SA steel plant.
