A Maine federal judge on Thursday refused to issue a preliminary injunction to a putative class of certain Maine noncitizen legal residents in their suit against a state law terminating their Medicaid coverage, ruling the plaintiffs were unlikely to succeed in their case.

A cancer-stricken German citizen legally residing in Maine lodged a putative class action against the state's Department of Health and Human Services in federal court on Thursday challenging the constitutionality of a new state law denying medical coverage to some noncitizens.
