A California federal judge on Monday tossed a patent infringement suit against Alcatel-Lucent USA Inc. for technology to fix unwanted changes in data sent over fiber optics, ruling that Labyrinth Optical Technologies LLC did not prove it holds the rights to the patent and therefore lacked standing.

A California federal judge on Tuesday nixed Alcatel-Lucent USA Inc.'s invalidity defenses in Labyrinth Optical Technologies LLC's infringement suit over technology to fix unwanted changes in data sent over fiber optics, ruling its expert's revised theory no longer met the standard for patent anticipation.
