Diamond Pet Foods Inc. and Costco Wholesale Corp. on Tuesday agreed to pay $2 million to settle a proposed class action over large recalls in 2012 of dog food linked to a salmonella outbreak that sickened pets and 14 people.

Diamond Pet Foods Inc. and Costco Wholesale Corp. were slapped with a putative class action in New York federal court Wednesday over recent large recalls of dog food linked to a salmonella outbreak that has sickened pets and at least 15 people.
