Massachusetts has intervened in the landmark Escobar False Claims Act case, filing a complaint in federal court Monday accusing Universal Health Services Inc. of wrongly charging the state's Medicaid program for outpatient mental health care by unqualified staff.

Universal Health Services Inc. has urged a Massachusetts federal court to dismiss parts of the Escobar whistleblowers’ amended complaint that weren’t considered by the First Circuit or U.S Supreme Court, arguing the additional allegations are poorly pled.
