A California federal judge ruled Friday that former DirecTV LLC subscribers accusing the satellite TV provider of compromising their privacy by failing to destroy personal information can't petition the Ninth Circuit to move the suit out of arbitration.

DirecTV LLC asked a California federal judge Friday to toss a challenge of an arbitration order in a proposed class action over its allegedly improper retention of personal information, saying there is no evidence the judge incorrectly interpreted the arbitration agreement.
