A Kansas federal judge on Wednesday approved a revised $5 million settlement between an online freight broker and a class of workers who alleged the company misclassified them and stiffed them on overtime pay, after the entities removed a confidentiality clause from the deal and reduced its service awards.

A Kansas federal judge rejected a proposed $5.1 million settlement in a collective action accusing shipping broker Freightquote.com of not paying workers overtime, ruling Monday that he couldn't approve a Fair Labor Standards Act settlement that has a confidentiality provision.
