Electronic Arts Inc. has agreed to end its copyright infringement suit alleging Zynga Inc.'s Facebook-based video game "The Ville" rips off its own competing "The Sims Social," according to a court document filed Friday in California federal court.

Electronic Arts Inc. told a California federal court Friday that settlements stemming from a previous hiring dispute did not prevent the company from suing Zynga Inc. over alleged copyright infringement and urged the court to toss a set of Zynga counterclaims.

Zynga Inc. on Friday accused Electronic Arts Inc. of trying to work out a deal not to snatch its employees following EA's accusations that Zynga's Facebook Inc. game "The Ville" infringed EA's copyright for "The Sims Social," according to Friday news reports.
