A federal judge on Monday dismissed Indian Harbor Insurance Co.'s lawsuit against South Carolina landfill operators disputing the insurer's responsibility to provide coverage in two garbage odor cases — one of which has already resulted in a $2.3 million verdict — saying a separate suit filed by the companies in Arizona should proceed instead.

Indian Harbor Insurance Co. on Thursday asked a South Carolina federal judge to find it has no duty to defend or indemnify waste disposal company Republic Services Inc. in two underlying suits about landfill odors, one of which resulted in a $2.3 million verdict against Republic.
