A California federal judge on Thursday trimmed a putative class action alleging Johnson & Johnson falsely advertised high-SPF sunscreen products as offering more sun protection than lower-SPF products, finding the plaintiff could not pursue claims involving products she did not purchase.

Johnson & Johnson on Wednesday blasted a proposed class action that alleges some of its high-SPF sunscreens protect the skin no better than lower-SPF products, arguing the suit should be dismissed because the plaintiff had never purchased most of the products.
