An Eastern District of Texas judge on Monday granted Motio Inc. a permanent injunction on Avnet Inc.'s business intelligence products that a jury found infringed Motio's patent, but rejected Motio's motion seeking attorneys' fees under the U.S. Supreme Court's Octane decision.

A Texas federal jury on Thursday found in favor of software company Motio Inc.'s claims that Avnet Inc. infringed a software patent related to business intelligence, awarding more than $1 million in lost profits and just under $130,000 in royalty payments.

The asserted claims of a software patent related to business intelligence survived an invalidation attempt under the U.S. Supreme Court's Alice decision on Monday, when an Eastern District of Texas judge determined that while the claims are abstract, the patent also contains inventive concepts.
