Capitol Supply Inc. is trying to pare accusations, from the U.S. government and a relator, that it sold federal agencies office supplies falsely labeled as American-made, telling a D.C. federal judge Friday that the would-be whistleblower's claims are based on publicly disclosed information.

The U.S. on Monday waded into a Virginia manufacturer's False Claims Act suit against Capitol Supply Inc., accusing the vendor in Washington federal court of selling paper shredders to the federal government purportedly made in the U.S. that were actually manufactured in China.
