Manufacturers and installers of spray polyurethane foam insulation are fighting a bid to consolidate class actions claiming the product causes personal injury and damage to homes, saying the cases are too different to warrant a multidistrict litigation and can be effectively tried separately.

Spray foam insulation manufacturer Demilec LLC and building products giant Masco Corp. were hit with a proposed class action in Florida federal court Friday alleging they provided toxic insulation to homeowners nationwide.
